Genuine Porsche Ignition Coil Heat Shield Upgrade — 981 Boxster & Cayman (2013–2016)

Exhaust header heat can be hard on ignition coil packs and their connectors — and on the 981 Boxster and Cayman, this upgrade installs factory Porsche heat shields to help protect both. A popular addition among track enthusiasts, where exhaust temperatures tend to run higher and longer than in everyday street driving.

These are Genuine Porsche heat shields — factory parts used in a popular enthusiast application.

What's Included Four heat shields total — two per side, covering ignition coil packs and ignition coil connectors.

Please Note Professional installation is recommended due to the elevated mounting location. This is a popular enthusiast upgrade, not a factory-recommended modification.

Compatibility

  • 2013–2016 Porsche Boxster — all models (981 generation)
  • 2013–2016 Porsche Cayman — all models (981 generation)

Why Genuine Porsche? Every component in this upgrade is a Genuine Porsche part — sourced through the official Porsche parts supply chain, not an aftermarket reproduction. For protecting ignition components this critical to engine reliability, factory-correct shielding is the right choice.

Genuine Porsche. Not Aftermarket. Not a Knockoff. Accept No Substitutes.

Shields Are Fine, Suncoast? ( Verified Buyer )
3 out of 5 stars.
Allen (Texas) | June 22nd, 2024
As noted by others, the upper shields are fine and the install is no more difficult than replacing the spark plugs and coils. Also as noted by others, the lower shields are useless unless you plan on removing the headers, which several, including me, had no plans to do. So, why does Suncoast insist on selling both as a kit? Why not split the uppers and lowers so that those who only wish to install the uppers may do so without having the lowers sitting around their garage for eternity (after paying $50+ for the privilege)? The invoice I received from Suncoast shows part numbers and prices for each individual shield (4) and even the Torx screws. Therefore, it would be no big deal for them to separate out the uppers and lowers into separate kits and save their customers money and hassle. This, apparently, is not their goal. Very unfortunate. Suncoast has become, for me, a vendor to use only when no one else has a component.
Coil pack shields with FabSpeed cat headers ( Verified Buyer )
5 out of 5 stars.
Timothy (San Antonio) | March 26th, 2022
The coil pack heat shields came will all hardware and easy to figure out the install. These head shields fit perfect with FabSpeed cat headers. The only modification was to shorten one bolt slightly so it would fit between the cat and mounting hole. All 4 shields fit perfect.
Difficult to install
4 out of 5 stars.
Jeff S | August 28th, 2021
Agree with previous review. I also installed only the uppers (which seem to be the ones that would shield the coil packs). I see no way to install lowers without removing headers. Doesn’t seem worth the effort at this point.
Nice shields but difficult install
4 out of 5 stars.
Hervé G. (Calgary) | May 30th, 2020
The heatshields are OEM, good quality. Came with all hardware. There were no instructions but it's easy to figure out. On my 2015 Cayman S the installation of the upper shields was easy. It's a tight fit for sure but still easy. The lower shields on the other hand.... absolutely impossible to install because the headers block access to the tear most bolt hole. I did not install them yet because of this, I'll do it when switching to aftermarket headers&exhaust

Porsche Parts Warranty Information — Suncoast Porsche

Understanding your warranty coverage is important. Below is a complete overview of warranty terms for Genuine Porsche OEM parts, aftermarket parts, and closeout items purchased from Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com.

Warranty Coverage by Product Type

Genuine Porsche OEM Parts — 2-Year Warranty

All Genuine Porsche OEM parts purchased from Suncoast Porsche or SuncoastParts.com come with a 2-year, unlimited mileage, parts-only warranty beginning on the date of purchase.

If your parts are installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center, both parts and labor warranty coverage may apply if the part is deemed defective within the 2-year warranty period. Coverage varies by location — please check with your local Porsche dealer prior to installation to confirm their specific warranty participation, as each Porsche Center is independently owned and operated.

Important warranty notes for online purchases:

  • Labor, diagnostic, and installation fees are not covered when parts are purchased online from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche, unless the parts are installed by an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty claims must be processed in person at an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty service is honored at any authorized Porsche dealer in the United States, however some dealers may decline warranty claims for parts purchased online or from another dealership — always verify with your local dealer before installation
  • If a warranty claim is approved and the part was not installed by a Porsche Service Center, installation of the replacement part remains the customer's responsibility
  • Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com are not liable for any diagnostic, labor, or installation fees charged by another Porsche Service Center

Aftermarket & Performance Parts

Warranty coverage for aftermarket and performance parts varies by manufacturer. Most carry a 1-year limited warranty. Contact us for specific warranty details on any aftermarket product. Please note that diagnostic time and labor costs for warranty replacements are not covered.

Take-Off & Closeout Parts

All take-off and closeout parts are sold as-is with no warranty and are not eligible for return. Pricing on these items reflects their as-is condition.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

The following situations and conditions are explicitly excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Improper Installation or Misuse — Damage resulting from incorrect installation, negligence, unauthorized alteration, or accident. This includes any use in racing, competition, or motorsport applications
  • Lack of Proper Maintenance — Damage caused by failure to follow the vehicle's recommended Maintenance Schedule, or failure to use the correct fluids, fuel, oil, or lubricants as specified in the Owner's Manual. Proof of proper maintenance is the owner's responsibility — retain all service receipts in case questions arise
  • Consequential or Economic Losses — Towing fees, rental vehicles, loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience, or any other indirect economic losses
  • Vehicles Outside the USA & Canada — Parts installed on vehicles registered or primarily operated outside of the United States or Canada are not covered under this warranty

How to Obtain Warranty Service

Installed by an Authorized Porsche Dealer

If your parts were originally installed by an authorized Porsche dealer, warranty repairs may be performed by that same dealer or any other authorized Porsche Service Center in the United States. Please allow a reasonable timeframe for repairs after delivering your vehicle to the dealership.

Installed by an Independent Repair Shop

Please be aware: All warranty claims must be inspected, performed, and documented by factory-trained Porsche technicians at an authorized Porsche dealership. Work performed at an independent repair shop does not qualify for warranty consideration. If warranty coverage is a priority, we strongly recommend having your parts installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center.

Documentation Requirements for Warranty Claims

To process a warranty claim, the servicing Porsche dealer will require:

  • Your original sales receipt or order confirmation from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche
  • A completed warranty certificate
  • Proof of proper vehicle maintenance history (if applicable)

Suncoast Porsche retains sales records on file for two years. If you need a copy of your receipt, contact us and we will provide it promptly.

Additional Warranty Terms & Legal Disclaimers

This warranty provides you with specific legal rights. You may also have additional rights that vary by state.

Porsche does not authorize any individual or organization to create additional obligations or liabilities beyond those stated in this warranty. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited in duration to the term of this written warranty. The exclusive remedy under this warranty is the repair or replacement of the defective part.

Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising from a breach of this written warranty or any implied warranty.

Some states do not permit limitations on implied warranty duration or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages — the above limitations may not apply in your state. Additionally, installation of certain parts or accessories may affect your Porsche New Vehicle Warranty. Please consult your authorized Porsche dealer for full terms, or contact us with any questions.
