IMPORTANT NOTE:  If your car is pre-wired for a dash camera (option QK3 or XWN), we will send the correct version for your car.  Please enter your VIN number so we can verify your options.   If your car is pre-wired, your kit may come with a front AND rear camera (except convertible & targa models).

The Porsche Dashcam is suitable for making videos of driving situations and parking manuvers.  It is operated via a special app in which all settings can be carried out.  Recorded videos are saved on the supplied SD card and continuously overwritten.  If the Dashcam detects a strong vibration or the radar sensor is triggered, the recorded video is stored separately and is not overwritten.  Recordings can be downloaded directly from the SD card or via the app.

"Drive" Mode:
Recording begins automatically when the engine is started.  If a vibration event occurs, the 10 seconds before the event and the time after the event are stored separately.  The vibration sensor can be disabled for filming on the race track using the "Continuous" setting in the app.

"Park" mode:
During parking manuvers, the Dashcam is in sleep mode but ready for operation.  Recording is triggered by the radar sensor or the vibration sensor.  The duration and scope of sleep mode vary depending on the vehicle model and equipment.

Details:
  • Video recording in QHD
  • Audio recording (can be disabled)
  • GPS sensor
  • Radar sensor for recording a video if an object approaches the vehicle (depending on vehicle model and equipment)
  • Vibration sensor (depending on vehicle model)
  • Lens with polarization filter for reducing reflections and improving color and contrast
  • Windscreen bracket for secure mounting
  • Includes camera and mounting and vehicle cable set

Intended for models pre-wired for this option, but can be retrofitted to cars which are not prewired:
  • All Taycan models
  • All Boxster models - 2017-2026
  • All Cayman models - 2017-2026
  • All 911 Carrera models - 2020-2026
  • All Macan models - 2019-2026
  • All Panamera models - 2017-2026
  • All Cayenne models - 2019-2026
Dealer installation and activation is required.  Only compatible with newer phones.

Suncoast Note:  For cars with wireless Apple CarPlay, you lose wireless capability when using the Dash Cam.  You will have to connect your phone via cable while using the Dash Cam.

Waste of money
1 out of 5 stars.

Expect 5+ hours of labor for your dealer to install this. For the price of the pre-wiring + camera + installation you can buy any other dashcam on the market and have it professionally installed with change left over. But assuming money is no object, how is it as a dashcam? Well video resolution is 2560x1440, whereas aftermarket cameras typically record in 3840x2160. So you may miss details like plates or things happening in the distance. Colors feel washed out. When it gets dark the video is grainy, whereas competitors have larger sensors that are better in low-light. It also only records at 30 frames per second, while competitors offer 60. Audio fidelity is beyond awful. Mounted in my standard 992 Carrera 4S, it suffers from audio clipping at anything close to full throttle, thereby not capturing the full range of audio data. This results in unpleasant digital distortion upon playback. It also suffers from electromagnetic interference - a high pitched whine that rises and falls with engine speed, a sound not present in the car. If you hope to post videos showcasing your Porsche’s nice engine sound, think again. Dashcams can help prove innocence in an accident and be evidence against an at-fault party. So it’s important that they’re reliable. Unfortunately this is not reliable. It randomly stops recording, or announces that the rear camera is disconnected (only to magically reconnect again), or that the SD card has a problem. On one occasion it completely corrupted the SD card filesystem and I had to buy recovery software. The card itself works fine in other devices. I’ve tried 3 high-endurance SD cards from top brands (Samsung and SanDisk), purchased from authorized retailers so I know they’re not fake. I even had Porsche replace the camera under warranty, but the new camera does the same thing. It is a bulky device - an order of magnitude larger than the Garmin dashcam in my other car - and the official mounting instructions require it to be placed directly in your field of view rather than hidden away. It has a built-in G-sensor to detect accidents. But on the default setting it’s so sensitive that it beeps every time I go over the slightest road imperfections. (And my 911 has a soft ride compared to the GT cars!) Surely Porsche should have calibrated this to their own cars? But you can adjust that sensitivity, right? Except this requires connecting to it with the mobile app. This is the worst iOS app I’ve ever used. After years of bugfixes they still have not resolved showstopper bugs. It is clear that the developers never actually tested it with a real device. You see, the app can't connect to the camera. In theory you can connect either directly or via the car’s WiFi. I’ve tried both. The app sees the camera at first, then tries to connect using WiFi but gets the WiFi name wrong and you can’t tell it otherwise. I’ve tried every combination of reinstalling the app, factory resetting the device, disconnecting CarPlay, forgetting all WiFi networks, Airplane mode, disabling and re-enabling the car’s wifi, and even manually updating the firmware via SD card. It just does not work. Until, one day, without changing anything, and after persisting through about 5 error messages doing the same thing over and over, it will randomly work. If the sign of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result, then insanity is a prerequisite to changing your Porsche dashcam settings. If I were Porsche’s product team I would be deeply embarrassed by this.
Pretty terrible in my opinion

First off, the experience of installing this cam was a nightmare. My 992 GTS was "pre wired" for this camera, but only the front camera would work. My gracious dealer told me they didn't know if they could fix it, and it wouldn't be covered by warranty, and they were not able to tell me how much it might cost. Eventually I fixed it myself by removing the interior trim and power-cycling the rear camera (no idea WHY that worked, just that it did). Now, on to the camera itself. The app is "OK", and does mostly what you need, but the main function of a dash cam is to record video.. this is where it fails dismally. I have the cam set to continuously record. Today I was driving, and a guy in a big truck veered into my lane as we were turning a corner, I zoomed wide to avoid, then cut back in front. He had plenty of room. Looking in the rear mirror, he then flipped me off. So, now I want to see the video, but... not recorded. Only 3 minutes of recording from today, and I was driving for about an hour. It wasn't the most recent 3 minutes either (for those thinking perhaps the memory card was full), just random grabs from the highway. I mean, it has one job. This wasn't a "critical" event, but if it can't be relied on to record, then it doesn't have a purpose. It's going in the trash and I'm just going to have to eat the cost of buying a "real" dashcam and having it installed.

I got this for my Taycan GTS. I explored the popular FitcamX product, but it didn't work when I tried it and decided instead to stick with a fully-supported and warranted solution. My car does not have the prewire option for dashcam, so only the front camera is supported. Apparently the rear camera requires the prewire option. Install ran me just over $1000 with tax at my local Porsche service center. I had them install mine low and centered such that the camera lens is right in front of the plastic mirror trim. I am very happy with this location as it's mostly out of my way. Note that the Porsche install instructions (and the sample photo here on Suncoast) put the camera installed higher and to the left of the mirror assembly. I was very explicit in my instructions to the tech to make sure it didn't end up there. This does require them filing a bit of the plastic trim around the top console so the wire can pass through, which looks great and I'm very happy with. The camera turns on and off with the car and supports monitoring when parked. In parking mode it will save an "event" based on vibration, radar or video analysis. I had to use video analysis as my car unfortunately has the treated glass option and radar cannot pass through. GPS does though, so all the videos are correctly location-stamped. The app is a little clunky but works, you must connect to the dashcam's hotspot to view or download videos, or just remove the SD card. There is an option to attach the camera to the car's hotspot. I've enabled the hotspot to see what it does differently; if it can send me push notifications in this configuration in response to car events I'll be very happy. The video quality is great, the audio quality is serviceable - a bit of clipping capturing loud music in the car but honestly it's fine for what it needs to do. The camera announces mode changes in a female German accent which I appreciate :) All in all I am fully gruntled. With labor it's more expensive than other offerings, but I have the peace of mind that I have a fully supported warranty safe option.
Porsche Dash Cam
5 out of 5 stars.

I bought 2 dash cam's and had them installed on my Macan GTS and Boxster T. I installed the cameras in the upper right corner of the rear view mirror so its out of my sight of vision while driving, but still get a center view from its location. The clarity is extremely clear, easy to upload though your phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth must be turned on while you are in airplane mode in order for it to successfully pair and upload to your phone's app. I highly recommend this product!!!

Porsche Parts Warranty Information — Suncoast Porsche

Understanding your warranty coverage is important. Below is a complete overview of warranty terms for Genuine Porsche OEM parts, aftermarket parts, and closeout items purchased from Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com.

Warranty Coverage by Product Type

Genuine Porsche OEM Parts — 2-Year Warranty

All Genuine Porsche OEM parts purchased from Suncoast Porsche or SuncoastParts.com come with a 2-year, unlimited mileage, parts-only warranty beginning on the date of purchase.

If your parts are installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center, both parts and labor warranty coverage may apply if the part is deemed defective within the 2-year warranty period. Coverage varies by location — please check with your local Porsche dealer prior to installation to confirm their specific warranty participation, as each Porsche Center is independently owned and operated.

Important warranty notes for online purchases:

  • Labor, diagnostic, and installation fees are not covered when parts are purchased online from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche, unless the parts are installed by an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty claims must be processed in person at an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty service is honored at any authorized Porsche dealer in the United States, however some dealers may decline warranty claims for parts purchased online or from another dealership — always verify with your local dealer before installation
  • If a warranty claim is approved and the part was not installed by a Porsche Service Center, installation of the replacement part remains the customer's responsibility
  • Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com are not liable for any diagnostic, labor, or installation fees charged by another Porsche Service Center

Aftermarket & Performance Parts

Warranty coverage for aftermarket and performance parts varies by manufacturer. Most carry a 1-year limited warranty. Contact us for specific warranty details on any aftermarket product. Please note that diagnostic time and labor costs for warranty replacements are not covered.

Take-Off & Closeout Parts

All take-off and closeout parts are sold as-is with no warranty and are not eligible for return. Pricing on these items reflects their as-is condition.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

The following situations and conditions are explicitly excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Improper Installation or Misuse — Damage resulting from incorrect installation, negligence, unauthorized alteration, or accident. This includes any use in racing, competition, or motorsport applications
  • Lack of Proper Maintenance — Damage caused by failure to follow the vehicle's recommended Maintenance Schedule, or failure to use the correct fluids, fuel, oil, or lubricants as specified in the Owner's Manual. Proof of proper maintenance is the owner's responsibility — retain all service receipts in case questions arise
  • Consequential or Economic Losses — Towing fees, rental vehicles, loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience, or any other indirect economic losses
  • Vehicles Outside the USA & Canada — Parts installed on vehicles registered or primarily operated outside of the United States or Canada are not covered under this warranty

How to Obtain Warranty Service

Installed by an Authorized Porsche Dealer

If your parts were originally installed by an authorized Porsche dealer, warranty repairs may be performed by that same dealer or any other authorized Porsche Service Center in the United States. Please allow a reasonable timeframe for repairs after delivering your vehicle to the dealership.

Installed by an Independent Repair Shop

Please be aware: All warranty claims must be inspected, performed, and documented by factory-trained Porsche technicians at an authorized Porsche dealership. Work performed at an independent repair shop does not qualify for warranty consideration. If warranty coverage is a priority, we strongly recommend having your parts installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center.

Documentation Requirements for Warranty Claims

To process a warranty claim, the servicing Porsche dealer will require:

  • Your original sales receipt or order confirmation from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche
  • A completed warranty certificate
  • Proof of proper vehicle maintenance history (if applicable)

Suncoast Porsche retains sales records on file for two years. If you need a copy of your receipt, contact us and we will provide it promptly.

Additional Warranty Terms & Legal Disclaimers

This warranty provides you with specific legal rights. You may also have additional rights that vary by state.

Porsche does not authorize any individual or organization to create additional obligations or liabilities beyond those stated in this warranty. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited in duration to the term of this written warranty. The exclusive remedy under this warranty is the repair or replacement of the defective part.

Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising from a breach of this written warranty or any implied warranty.

Some states do not permit limitations on implied warranty duration or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages — the above limitations may not apply in your state. Additionally, installation of certain parts or accessories may affect your Porsche New Vehicle Warranty. Please consult your authorized Porsche dealer for full terms, or contact us with any questions.
