Best phone holder, Works with MAG safe (case)
(California) | March 30th, 2024
Make sure you have a case with the metal ring on the back, the magnet is good, I don't think it is weak like the other review. For my case it click on and does not fall off it's nearly perfect strength, again I have an aftermarket chinese case with mag safe ring. I have carplay but this makes it so i don't need it and can use my phone screen for better clickability than my CDR31 screen. Also I lvoe it just to hold my phone, putting my phone on the passanger seat SUCKS the 981 is so big.

Weak magnet
(Texas) | October 5th, 2023
I bought the non-mag safe version thinking there wasn't any point in running a power cord to the magnet when I could just plug the cable directly into the phone, which usually charges it faster anyway without heating up the phone. I was very disappointed when I found that the regular magnet mount wouldn't hold on to my iPhone 13 with a fairly thin, mag-safe case. So, I have to place the metal plate provided inside the case, which now prevents it from being induction charged unless I remove the case. In my other car, I have a magnetic mount from another company, and it securely holds the phone without the additional metal plate. Also, I now wish I had purchased the mount that fits farther back on the console; I originally tried to mount it to the left of the screen, which blocked too many things, so had to mount it on the right, which means I can't fully deploy and lock the cup holder on that side. Finally, like others, I broke off the L-shaped tab at the forward part of the trim piece, when trying to remove it, even though I thought I was being very careful.

Fantastic upgrade for the 991
(TX) | May 2nd, 2023
Very easy install. I used a Tackform 17mm ball phone holder in conjunction with the Rennline phone mount. I like the combination and beats the awful phone holder I had clipped to my a/c vent.
Perfect

This mount is exactly what I was looking for. Installation took about 10 minutes, and it works great. I would buy again. I don’t know if it is strong enough to hold up for track use, but it is fine for daily driving.
Works great - and was easy to install

I was hesitant at first to purchase any enhancement that required a physical attachment - for no other reason than I like keeping the car as close to factory new as possible. After watching the install video I decided to give it a shot and I am incredibly pleased. The installation was simple (less than 10 min) it works great - and I can remove it at any time without any damage or marking on the car. Love it.
Very satisfied

I purchased this phone mount for a 2015 Cayman S. I first tried installing it on the driver side but the phone blocked my view of critical buttons and functions on the screen. Moving it to the passenger side worked much better and nothing is obstructed from view if the phone is attached slightly away from the console. It’s still easily within reach and I can rest my wrist on the shift knob while operating the phone. The phone mount is very well made and worth the price in my opinion. The installation video was helpful in giving me the confidence to start pulling the moldings off without thinking I was going to break anything plastic.
Super happy

I put one on our 2015 Cayenne (right side vent mount) and then on my 2015 Boxter (right side console mount). Love that they look factory and are both minimalist and strong. Getting the vent out with 4 screwdrivers being leveraged to pull in the clips is a bit scary but take your time, watch the video and you can do it in the end. Install on Boxter is easier (removing / popping off trip versus having to push clips ) but both eminently doable. Make sure to tighten the silver ball with and Allen wrench before installing. One installed you would have to remove to tighten. Basically follow the directions and you will love it! Installed first on left vent of Cayman but moved to right so as not to block the radio screen (backup camera). Like it on the right side much better!
Dash Mount: Great Hardware and Instructions, but...
(Alabama) | January 4th, 2021
...a diagram of the backside of the console panel would have helped greatly., I certainly appreciate the installation video, but the panel was much harder to pull off then shown in the video and, like another reviewer, though I watched the video many times and planned exactly how and where I would pull to remove the panel, I still broke two tabs. I think that had the instructions included a diagram of the backside of the panel, I might have avoided breaking the tabs. Once the panel is removed, installation is simple and the mount very solid. I was able to avoid blocking any part of both the PCM and the drink holder on my 991.1 by sticking the metal tab off-center on my phone. The magnet holds the phone securely and nothing blocked. Awesome! Also happy to say that the panel didn't really need the two tabs that broke. If I don't wiggle it, I can't tell that they're missing.

Reviews are pretty spot on. It is, indeed, a solid piece of hardware. If installed correctly (and that includes the magnetic strip - which does work on the back inside of a slim iPhone case), your phone will NOT go anywhere. I hear what "FLAWED" is saying, but I drive pretty hard according to the G Force meter in my car and I cannot imagine the phone coming off the mount. I will reiterate Ryan's sage advice re: installation. If you aren't VERY careful, you'll break a tab. I watched the videos, read the instructions and proceeded with great caution. Still broke a tab when removing the first piece. No big deal as there are more tabs than necessary to keep the trim pieces secure. Just wiggle and pull up very gently and you'll be okay. The mount works perfectly. I like it on the upper right side so I can use my cup holder and the phone is best in my line of sight. The only real downside is that the mount (with phone on it) obscures the far left of the PCM. So, you can't see your "SOURCE" button and a bit of the screen. No biggie and I'm not even deducting a star for it b/c this mount is so vastly superior to all other options. TOP TIP: Route a long iPhone cable from the glove box through the right/passenger trim (make sure to leave enough slack to the glove box closes properly) and through/under the center console to the driver's side. If you use the farthest-forward hole, you'll end up with the cord exiting the driver's side in a place that is not visible to car occupants. With a little work, you can leave just enough slack under the console so that all you see is about 3" of cord coming from the driver's side trim directly to the bottom of your mounted phone. Super clean and easy to do! Can't believe it's not part of the instructions since it is soooo much better than having an iPhone cable coming from the glove box and flapping around on on top of the console. You're better than that! Escape mediocrity! Go for the pro routing!
The best phone mount you'll find for your 991

This is a professional-looking, clean and solid piece of hardware with an absolutely excellent design. Installation was easy with the help of the video, and my side panel was tough to remove at first, but once I got it off, everything else was smooth. I would recommend placing the metal adhesive piece on the inside of your phone case as the magnet is super strong and can tear it off the outside if you remove quickly. I recommend mounting on the upper right position.
