Replacement Gas Cap (991/981/718) SKU: SKU9X1GASCAP

I just purchased this replacement gas cap for my 2015 981 Cayman S. When trying to remove the old broken strap from the filler door, note carefully that what looks like a plastic pop rivet WILL NOT COME OFF. It is a molded section of the filler door itself. If you try to pry it off you will likely need to replace the filler door. Instead, use a hairdryer or heat gun to GENTLY heat the rubber ring around the attachment post and then pry the ring over the head of the post. Then heat the new one and stretch it over the head of the post. I found a lot of online suggestions that this post can be pried off, and on some models this might be true, but at least on my model it DOES NOT COME OFF! That being said, the replacement filler cap is identical to the factory one and looks/works perfectly.
