Third Radiator Kit - 997.1 SKU: SKU9971TRK

Just installed this on my 2007 Carrera S. Great Porsche Quality and fit. If you empty the cooling system entirely to do this job (which you should), expect it to take 6-8 hours. Installing the radiator is the easy part. Draining the system properly requires most under panels to be removed and various hoses disconnected and engine block to be purged and drained. Then the system requires a vacuum purge and fill. Then, of course, everything back together. In the end it was satisfying, but a pain in the a**.

I was a little concerned when the huge bog arrived with no instructions. After watching utube on front bumper removal which took an hour and a half the components for the 3rd radiator installed in less than 20 minutes. A very easy fix for an item that will prolong the longevity of my 997.1

I have a 997.1 C4 that I track so wanted the added protection of a third radiator. For a 997.1, these drop in very easily and are super affordable for what you get. The kit includes not just the radiator, but all the connections you need and plastic parts for air flow (which on their own are probably worth more than the radiator). I was surprised how minimal the effort is to install. Obviously removing the bumper is a bit of a pain, but once you get to the radiator it isn't bad at all. as the car is basically already piped to have the radiator. Also, the air flows through and out the bottom so their is no need for the hood vent like on a GT3. I am very happy and would consider this to be by far my best upgrade in terms of bang for buck.

A Porsche OEM bolt-on 3rd radiator. Something that Porsche should have installed from the factory on all cars not just the X51 cars. If you dont know, there are some coolant design flaws in the M96 and M97 motors and they run hotter than they really should. Plus Porsche installed temp gauges that read 15 degrees conservative so that you are never aware that your car is actualy running hotter than it really should. This has been verified by two different indy shops. So this mod, and a lower temp thermostat are must haves for these cars if you want to avoid piston scaring and or cylinder liner cracks. This is CHEAP insurance to the alternative.
