Stainless Steel Door Sill Logos SKU: SKU95BSILL

The sill plates each come with a dozen 0.5" flat tabs that are designed to go through matching holes (to be drilled) in the plastic door sill trim frame, and bent behind the frame. My Macan is brand new, and I had zero interest in taking out the plastic door sill trim frame and drilling into it. I wanted to achieve an original equipment alteration free installation. Here is what I did: Clip each tab flush with the new sill plate leading lip, and then file down edges. Then, carefully peel away the factory glued on black felt sheet on the inside body of the new sill plate. Use an appropriate solvent (such as alcohol, Goof off, or carpet stain cleaner) to thoroughly clean the glue residue. Each new sill plate should now be all metal and very clean. Next cut and stick strips of Super Strength 3M Automotive Molding Tape to the inside body of the new sill plate. Avoid taping over the Macan logo as it is recessed. Clean very thoroughly with a mild painting prep solvent the door plastic trim where the new sill plate will go. Let it dry, and then after peeling off the protective cover over the molding tape press in the new sill plate. That is it. It comes together really well without having to drill holes. The 3M molding tape is very strong.
