Genuine Porsche Battery Charger & Trickle Maintainer (5.0A)

Keep your Porsche's battery in peak condition year-round with this Genuine Porsche 5.0A battery charger and trickle maintainer. The increased 5.0A charging power reduces charging time compared to standard maintainers, while the intelligent maintenance mode keeps your battery optimally conditioned during storage — whether you're putting the car away for the winter, prepping for track season, or simply keeping a rarely driven collector car ready to go.

A dedicated charge mode for Porsche lightweight lithium-ion batteries makes this the ideal solution for GT3, GT3 RS, GT2 RS, and other models equipped with factory race batteries — ensuring these specialized batteries receive the correct charging profile every time.

Note: This maintainer will not fix a defective battery. If your battery is not holding a charge, have it tested by a professional. In the event of a power outage, the maintainer will not restart automatically for safety reasons — it must be manually restarted when power is restored.

Compatibility:

  • All Porsche Boxster models (1997–2026)
  • All Porsche Cayman models (2005–2026)
  • All Porsche 911 Carrera models (1999–2027) — see 992 note below
  • All Porsche Cayenne models (2003–2027) — excluding Hybrid variants, see Cayenne note below
  • All Porsche Panamera models (2009–2027) — excluding Hybrid variants, see Panamera note below
  • All Porsche Macan models (2014–2027) — see Macan note below
  • Classic Porsche models — battery clamps required, see note below

⚠️ NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PLUG-IN HYBRID OR FULLY ELECTRIC MODELS.

Battery Clamp Option: Several Classic and newer Porsche models do not allow charging via the cigarette lighter socket. For these models, optional adapter clamps are required to charge directly at the battery terminals. We strongly recommend adding these clamps to ensure compatibility across the widest range of vehicles — see model-specific notes below.

Important Model-Specific Notes:

  • 981, 991 & 718 (2013–2026 Boxster/Cayman & 2013–2019 911 Carrera): Extended storage can put these models into "Sleep Mode," which disables the center console charging socket and shuts off the maintainer. To bypass this, lock the door after connecting the maintainer — or connect directly to the battery using the optional alligator clamps.
  • Macan: The 12-volt plugs inside Macan models cannot be used for battery charging. To bypass this, have your local Porsche dealer code the vehicle to accept a battery maintainer — or purchase the optional battery clamps and charge the battery directly.
  • Panamera (2017+): Optional maintainer clamps must be purchased separately. Direct battery connection is required for 2017 and newer Panamera models.
  • Cayenne (2017+): Optional maintainer clamps must be purchased separately for models without a cigarette lighter socket. Direct battery connection is required.
  • 992 (2020+ 911 Carrera): Optional maintainer clamps must be purchased separately. Direct battery connection at the battery terminals is required for all 992-generation models.
  • Classic Models: Battery clamps are required for direct battery connection on all Classic Porsche models.
  • All Models: In the event of a power outage, the maintainer will not restart automatically. Manual restart is required when power is restored.

I needed a maintainer for winter storage. Great product, useful features and simple to use. Having a recent 992, I needed the clamps for battery connection.

Suncoast Parts shipped quickly and the charger works exactly as advertised. The perfect charger for my 2016 Porsche Cayman GTS.

Although some will go buy the CTEK chargers offered elsewhere, I felt a bit more comfortable with a new Macan going with the Porsche-branded unit. In particular, the fact that it handles AGM batteries, which my older charger did not, was important for use on our new Macan GTS. The unit comes with a nice silicone bootie to wrap the edges of the charger so it doesn't accidentally scratch your paintwork if you get it near the vehicle body. I did find that with a 2021 Macan that the accessory outlet on the center console will stay active if I turn on the ignition with the charger connected and powered, and then shut the ignition off. No programming of the vehicle was necessary. The charger goes through four stages of battery assessment and charging modes (indicated by LEDs), even if you disconnect and re-connect the charger (say, due to a power outage). But it will go through the early stages more quickly if the battery was fully charged already. All in all a great product and good for peace of mind. If leaving it on for an extended period, I suggest taking a look at the LED status every couple of days just in case there was a power interruption and you need to restart the cycle with the ignition on.

Acquired 2006 Cayman from my son who included an old trickle charger. This new one is superior in every way and works great. I would highly recommend it!
992 battery charging

The accessory 12V port ( located in passenger side footwell) will “time out” after 30 minutes in the 992 preventing further charging. This can be prevented by having the ignition on when you connect the plugged in charger . The 12V socket will detect current and then disable the time-out when you turn off the ignition and lock your car. This applies to the 992 specifically. Alternatively, you can purchase an adapter that will allow you to hook terminals directly to the battery.

Purchased 2 of the Porsche Chargers to keep a Porsche battery and a boat battery fully charged while in storage. These are the easiest and most convenient chargers I've ever used and the ability to simply plug them into a cigarette lighter is the complete genius! Highly recommend and would purchase them again!!!!!!

Reading the instructions and removing the packaging are the most time-consuming aspects of getting this the maintainer started! Great product and seems to be very well-made!
Excellent Service

Got this as a replacement for a Porsche one purchased 10 years ago. In that time the Porsche folks have certainly learned a lot about marketing. If it sort of cost 200 bucks it had 100 bucks worth of attractive packaging. No complaints . Worked right away on our 2017 Cayenne Turbo. That would be more at home in a snowy winter than I would be driving it. Suncoast has their act together in the buying process. Easy site to navigate , prompt delivery. Would definitely purchase Porsche stuff from them again.

Porsche Parts Warranty Information — Suncoast Porsche

Understanding your warranty coverage is important. Below is a complete overview of warranty terms for Genuine Porsche OEM parts, aftermarket parts, and closeout items purchased from Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com.

Warranty Coverage by Product Type

Genuine Porsche OEM Parts — 2-Year Warranty

All Genuine Porsche OEM parts purchased from Suncoast Porsche or SuncoastParts.com come with a 2-year, unlimited mileage, parts-only warranty beginning on the date of purchase.

If your parts are installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center, both parts and labor warranty coverage may apply if the part is deemed defective within the 2-year warranty period. Coverage varies by location — please check with your local Porsche dealer prior to installation to confirm their specific warranty participation, as each Porsche Center is independently owned and operated.

Important warranty notes for online purchases:

  • Labor, diagnostic, and installation fees are not covered when parts are purchased online from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche, unless the parts are installed by an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty claims must be processed in person at an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty service is honored at any authorized Porsche dealer in the United States, however some dealers may decline warranty claims for parts purchased online or from another dealership — always verify with your local dealer before installation
  • If a warranty claim is approved and the part was not installed by a Porsche Service Center, installation of the replacement part remains the customer's responsibility
  • Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com are not liable for any diagnostic, labor, or installation fees charged by another Porsche Service Center

Aftermarket & Performance Parts

Warranty coverage for aftermarket and performance parts varies by manufacturer. Most carry a 1-year limited warranty. Contact us for specific warranty details on any aftermarket product. Please note that diagnostic time and labor costs for warranty replacements are not covered.

Take-Off & Closeout Parts

All take-off and closeout parts are sold as-is with no warranty and are not eligible for return. Pricing on these items reflects their as-is condition.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

The following situations and conditions are explicitly excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Improper Installation or Misuse — Damage resulting from incorrect installation, negligence, unauthorized alteration, or accident. This includes any use in racing, competition, or motorsport applications
  • Lack of Proper Maintenance — Damage caused by failure to follow the vehicle's recommended Maintenance Schedule, or failure to use the correct fluids, fuel, oil, or lubricants as specified in the Owner's Manual. Proof of proper maintenance is the owner's responsibility — retain all service receipts in case questions arise
  • Consequential or Economic Losses — Towing fees, rental vehicles, loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience, or any other indirect economic losses
  • Vehicles Outside the USA & Canada — Parts installed on vehicles registered or primarily operated outside of the United States or Canada are not covered under this warranty

How to Obtain Warranty Service

Installed by an Authorized Porsche Dealer

If your parts were originally installed by an authorized Porsche dealer, warranty repairs may be performed by that same dealer or any other authorized Porsche Service Center in the United States. Please allow a reasonable timeframe for repairs after delivering your vehicle to the dealership.

Installed by an Independent Repair Shop

Please be aware: All warranty claims must be inspected, performed, and documented by factory-trained Porsche technicians at an authorized Porsche dealership. Work performed at an independent repair shop does not qualify for warranty consideration. If warranty coverage is a priority, we strongly recommend having your parts installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center.

Documentation Requirements for Warranty Claims

To process a warranty claim, the servicing Porsche dealer will require:

  • Your original sales receipt or order confirmation from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche
  • A completed warranty certificate
  • Proof of proper vehicle maintenance history (if applicable)

Suncoast Porsche retains sales records on file for two years. If you need a copy of your receipt, contact us and we will provide it promptly.

Additional Warranty Terms & Legal Disclaimers

This warranty provides you with specific legal rights. You may also have additional rights that vary by state.

Porsche does not authorize any individual or organization to create additional obligations or liabilities beyond those stated in this warranty. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited in duration to the term of this written warranty. The exclusive remedy under this warranty is the repair or replacement of the defective part.

Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising from a breach of this written warranty or any implied warranty.

Some states do not permit limitations on implied warranty duration or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages — the above limitations may not apply in your state. Additionally, installation of certain parts or accessories may affect your Porsche New Vehicle Warranty. Please consult your authorized Porsche dealer for full terms, or contact us with any questions.
