Well made and nice looking, this hinge went in easily, however, there were no instructions with the parts. I finally realized that the U-shaped aluminum channels went under the hinge, with the legs down, to provide more support for the rivet and hinge. I made my own strap retainer to allow more opening. I wish a longer strap was included instead so I could have used the factory retainer.

Great product. I installed in about 15 minutes. I did not use the rivets supplied, instead I drilled pilot holes in the plastic and used screws. That way I can remove if necessary, though not sure I would ever need to do that. Lots of instruction videos available online and I suggest you watch a couple carefully, usually they are for the 911 so ignore the bit about the spring if you have a 986 like I do. They will give you all the info you need to do this job yourself. I'm so happy to have found this product as I couldn't stand the broken cover.

Very easy to install. Porsche should never have made the original product so poorly though.

Wow! Super simple to do. I elected to take out the center console first. Unscrew the inside cover of the top lid, can't remember what torx size, and take out the hinge pin. Tap out the hinge pin so the ribbed side comes out first. I used a file to work down the tabs on the center console, clamped the hinge for the console in place on the console (fits perfect), inserted the u brackets in the back of the console underneath the console hinge (make sure the edges of the "U" point down) and used the hinge rivet holes as a guide to drill the holes (5/32 if I remember right) through the console and U brackets. Pop riveted the hinge to the console, connected the inside upper lid cover to the console hinge with the hinge pin and then screwed to top of the lid to the inside lid cover. Took all of 15 minutes excluding the removal of the center console (another 30 minutes).
