This is a simple thing. Sure, you could create your own, perhaps for less. That said, this is a very useful piece of fabric that protects the soft plastic window from damaging itself. I bought this about 6 months ago and it has done a great job of keeping my window clean and scratch-free. The only "catch" is you need to be ready to grab it (to toss into the rear trunk or wherever) when you put your top back up. This can be tricky if you are at a light and a raincloud has greeted you suddenly. Fully recommend.
