In 2018, Porsche released the 919 Evo, a more powerful 919 than the earlier 919 Hybrid, which is going to have a farewell tour. In July 2017, Porsche announced that it would withdraw from the WEC and thus the Le Mans 24 hours, to focus on Formula E. Therefore, Porsche no longer had to abide by rules, and the 919 Evo is much faster than the 919 Hybrid of the year before.
The engine power has increased to 730 hp. Aerodynamic changes have also been made. The 919 Evo rode a lap time of 1: 41.770 on Spa-Francorchamps on 11 April 2018. On June 29, 2018, the 919 Evo broke the lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the lap record was broken by no less than 50 seconds, a lap time of 5: 19.54.
