We're talking about replacing an inconspicuous part that is kept hidden away under a door that is normally closed -- with a sharp-looking part that is kept hidden away under a door that is normally closed. Well, some of us drive Porsches because of the way they make *us* feel, not because of any need to impress others. Either way, you can't go wrong replacing the original, nondescript black fuel filler cap with this silver sport gas cap. In truth, it's a pretty good idea to change out your gas cap after a while anyway to keep the seal nice and fresh. Older gas caps can leak a little and throw a scary Check Engine code, so beat it to the punch and change it out now. After all, our cars are more than 8 to 15 years old by now, and some of the original seals are starting to go. Full disclosure: this fancier cap is not actually aluminum, it is "aluminum-look" plastic. But to tell you the truth, it looks just as good anyway, and the price is one of those rare Porsche upgrades that is really affordable and makes a great gift. To yourself. Based on my experience, it will give *you* your own private pleasure every time you fill your tank. Who cares about what others think, anyway?

This is a nice cosmetic upgrade of the stock gas cap. It fits perfectly (997.2 Turbo S) and is "relatively" easy to install. I used this process on a 997.2 Turbo S car. The key to installation is to use the longer of two provided tethers and the separate retainer rivet with the long push-pin.. Remove the existing rivet by pushing the push pin up from the bottom. The rivet and stock tether will come out easily. Now re-insert the rivet (with the push-pin extended) into the new tether, place the rivet in the hole and push the pin down... (You can use the original push pin if it is not damaged. This leaves you with a nice new spare.) Nice part...Highly Recommended....easy to install if you know the trick.

Picture shows a more "brushed" look. Actual cap is too shiney, but it still beats the look of the standard 997 gas cap.
