Function First Transmission Mount Upgrade - 911 Carrera Models.

The factory transmission mount was designed for ride comfort and is prone to sagging and tearing – above all, it is a detriment to performance. Its empty voids allow for too much transmission movement, resulting in sloppy handling, numbed responsiveness, and imprecise shifting. Racecars utilize a solid metal mount to mediate this, which is impractical for street use as it transfers extreme noise and vibration into the cabin.

So how do you achieve the benefits of a solid mount while retaining daily drivability? FUNCTION-FIRST Performance offers the only available effective and easy to install solution. The durable urethane rubber insert simply slides in to fill and fortify the empty voids of the factory mount, preventing premature bushing wear and undesirable transmission movement, all while transmitting minimal added noise and vibration.

The result? Handling is taut and predictable; power delivery is immediate and smooth; gear changes are crisp and confident.

This is Function Firsts Orange compound (60A), which is what we recommend for street cars. For daily drivability, or to restore your factory mount with minimal noise and vibration. We consider this the best option for street cars. Other versions are available, contact us if you're looking something more aggressive.

Installation can be completed with basic hand tools in about one hour. Pressing out the stock transmission mount bushing is NOT necessary. Professional installation recommended. Made by Function First, not a factory part.

Fits 911 Carrera models shown, select your year and model.

Please be aware: Although the inserts will help prevent the OEM bushing from tearing, if the bushing is already torn, it will need to be replaced. The inserts serve as a supplement to the bushing, not a replacement. In some cases of extreme bushing sagging, a vise or C-clamp with adequate silicone based lubrication will aid in installation of the inserts. (The 996 series bushings, especially, have a tendency to distort and sag over time.) For 996 GT and Turbo applications, please make sure that you are ordering the correct Insert for your transmission mount. Several customers have found that previous owners with failed OEM trans mounts had them replaced with the 997 unit, and that Transmission Mount Insert design is different compared to the 996 unit.

Increases Firmness
5 out of 5 stars.
Rapid Roy (Knoxville, TN) | June 23rd, 2018
I installed this on my manual trans 97k mile 997.1 Carrera S. Done in conjunction with a trans lubricant change, it only took about 30 minutes to install. Silicone grease or soap, as indicated in the installation instructions, is essential to get the insert in the stock bushing. The result was a very noticeable decrease in the feeling of play or windup in the drivetrain, which translates to a generally more sporting feel. However, there is also a noticeable increase in NVH, especially on throttle overrun at lower engine RPMs. I don't mind this, but be aware that you'll feel it. My car also has new engine mounts from the 997.1 Turbo. Don't know how sloppy mounts might affect the result.
Amazing PDK
5 out of 5 stars.
Rick H (Oakland CA) | November 26th, 2017
I added this product to my 2014 Carrera S (X51 3.8L). First of all I felt an immediate difference in the way the PDK shifted. I now have very clean and crisp shifts even in very high RPMS. Before at high revs you can feel the rough shifting but ever since adding these mount inserts, its gone away. This is a must for any PDK Carrera.

Porsche Parts Warranty Information — Suncoast Porsche

Understanding your warranty coverage is important. Below is a complete overview of warranty terms for Genuine Porsche OEM parts, aftermarket parts, and closeout items purchased from Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com.

Warranty Coverage by Product Type

Genuine Porsche OEM Parts — 2-Year Warranty

All Genuine Porsche OEM parts purchased from Suncoast Porsche or SuncoastParts.com come with a 2-year, unlimited mileage, parts-only warranty beginning on the date of purchase.

If your parts are installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center, both parts and labor warranty coverage may apply if the part is deemed defective within the 2-year warranty period. Coverage varies by location — please check with your local Porsche dealer prior to installation to confirm their specific warranty participation, as each Porsche Center is independently owned and operated.

Important warranty notes for online purchases:

  • Labor, diagnostic, and installation fees are not covered when parts are purchased online from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche, unless the parts are installed by an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty claims must be processed in person at an authorized Porsche Service Center
  • Warranty service is honored at any authorized Porsche dealer in the United States, however some dealers may decline warranty claims for parts purchased online or from another dealership — always verify with your local dealer before installation
  • If a warranty claim is approved and the part was not installed by a Porsche Service Center, installation of the replacement part remains the customer's responsibility
  • Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com are not liable for any diagnostic, labor, or installation fees charged by another Porsche Service Center

Aftermarket & Performance Parts

Warranty coverage for aftermarket and performance parts varies by manufacturer. Most carry a 1-year limited warranty. Contact us for specific warranty details on any aftermarket product. Please note that diagnostic time and labor costs for warranty replacements are not covered.

Take-Off & Closeout Parts

All take-off and closeout parts are sold as-is with no warranty and are not eligible for return. Pricing on these items reflects their as-is condition.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

The following situations and conditions are explicitly excluded from warranty coverage:

  • Improper Installation or Misuse — Damage resulting from incorrect installation, negligence, unauthorized alteration, or accident. This includes any use in racing, competition, or motorsport applications
  • Lack of Proper Maintenance — Damage caused by failure to follow the vehicle's recommended Maintenance Schedule, or failure to use the correct fluids, fuel, oil, or lubricants as specified in the Owner's Manual. Proof of proper maintenance is the owner's responsibility — retain all service receipts in case questions arise
  • Consequential or Economic Losses — Towing fees, rental vehicles, loss of use, loss of time, inconvenience, or any other indirect economic losses
  • Vehicles Outside the USA & Canada — Parts installed on vehicles registered or primarily operated outside of the United States or Canada are not covered under this warranty

How to Obtain Warranty Service

Installed by an Authorized Porsche Dealer

If your parts were originally installed by an authorized Porsche dealer, warranty repairs may be performed by that same dealer or any other authorized Porsche Service Center in the United States. Please allow a reasonable timeframe for repairs after delivering your vehicle to the dealership.

Installed by an Independent Repair Shop

Please be aware: All warranty claims must be inspected, performed, and documented by factory-trained Porsche technicians at an authorized Porsche dealership. Work performed at an independent repair shop does not qualify for warranty consideration. If warranty coverage is a priority, we strongly recommend having your parts installed at an authorized Porsche Service Center.

Documentation Requirements for Warranty Claims

To process a warranty claim, the servicing Porsche dealer will require:

  • Your original sales receipt or order confirmation from SuncoastParts.com or Suncoast Porsche
  • A completed warranty certificate
  • Proof of proper vehicle maintenance history (if applicable)

Suncoast Porsche retains sales records on file for two years. If you need a copy of your receipt, contact us and we will provide it promptly.

Additional Warranty Terms & Legal Disclaimers

This warranty provides you with specific legal rights. You may also have additional rights that vary by state.

Porsche does not authorize any individual or organization to create additional obligations or liabilities beyond those stated in this warranty. Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited in duration to the term of this written warranty. The exclusive remedy under this warranty is the repair or replacement of the defective part.

Suncoast Porsche and SuncoastParts.com shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising from a breach of this written warranty or any implied warranty.

Some states do not permit limitations on implied warranty duration or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages — the above limitations may not apply in your state. Additionally, installation of certain parts or accessories may affect your Porsche New Vehicle Warranty. Please consult your authorized Porsche dealer for full terms, or contact us with any questions.
