The Cayenne Turbo launched alongside the all-new second-generation 958 Cayenne for the 2011 model year, sitting at the top of the lineup above the base Cayenne, Cayenne S, and Cayenne S Hybrid, with the GTS joining the lineup a year later. Midway through the generation, Porsche added the Cayenne Turbo S, launching in January 2013 as a 2013 model year addition and taking over as the new range-topper, marking the first time a Turbo S variant had been offered on the Cayenne.
The standard Turbo used a twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 producing 500 hp (493 hp SAE) and 516 lb-ft of torque, reaching 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and topping out at 173 mph. The Turbo S used a reworked version of the same engine, producing 550 hp (542 hp SAE) and 553 lb-ft of torque, a meaningful step up that brought 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 176 mph, making it the quickest and fastest Cayenne offered to that point. Both used the standard 8-speed Tiptronic automatic and all-wheel drive.
Both models came standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), along with distinct styling elements including quad exhaust tips and unique front and rear fascias. The Turbo S added Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) as standard equipment to match its higher performance ceiling, along with upgraded interior trim.
