Four years after introducing the GTS badge to the Macan lineup, Porsche gave it a genuine mid-cycle overhaul as part of the broader 95B.2 facelift, arriving in mid-2019 as a 2020 model year car. This is the version most enthusiasts point to as the sweet spot within the Macan GTS's long production run, striking a balance between meaningful performance gains and everyday tech that the earlier car simply didn't have.
Power comes from an entirely new 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, replacing the outgoing 3.0-liter unit with a "hot-vee" turbocharger arrangement mounted inside the V of the engine for sharper throttle response, making 375 hp and 383 lb-ft, a 15 hp and 14 lb-ft gain over the original GTS. A 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission is standard, paired with Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, 4.5 with Sport Chrono, and a 162 mph top speed.
Adaptive air suspension came standard, capable of raising ride height for practicality or lowering it for sharper handling, along with 14.2-inch front and 13-inch rear brake rotors and 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels as standard equipment. A specially tuned sport exhaust and a fully overhauled infotainment system with a 10.9-inch touchscreen rounded out the changes from the outgoing car. Late in 2021, Porsche pushed the GTS further still, adopting the Macan Turbo's full 434 hp and 405 lb-ft tune as the Turbo trim was discontinued, effectively making the GTS the new performance flagship of the gas-powered lineup, a distinction that carries forward into the current Macan GTS today.
