The Cayenne S launched alongside the all-new second-generation 958 Cayenne for the 2011 model year, again slotting in as the mid-range performance option above the base V6 Cayenne and below the Cayenne Turbo. The second generation brought a lighter body structure and Panamera-influenced styling, including a redesigned front end, new instrument cluster, and revised center console.
Power came from a naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 producing 400 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, 100 hp more than the base Cayenne's V6 and 100 hp less than the Cayenne Turbo. Paired with the standard 8-speed Tiptronic automatic and all-wheel drive, the Cayenne S reached 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and topped out at 160 mph.
Compared to the outgoing first-generation 957 Cayenne S, this second-generation model was lighter overall despite its added technology and features, contributing to quicker acceleration and improved efficiency.
