Porsche doesn't often revive a nameplate from the 1970s, but the S/T earned it. First worn by a handful of hand-built lightweight 911s built for privateer racers in 1970, the badge came back in 2023 as the ultimate expression of the 992 GT department, and as a birthday present. Porsche built it to mark 60 years of the 911, with production capped at 1,963 units worldwide, a nod to the year the original 911 debuted.
Under the rear decklid sits the GT3 RS's 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, tuned to 518 hp and revving to 9,000 rpm, but here it's paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual built around a lightweight single-mass flywheel borrowed from the 911 R. No PDK, no exceptions. That alone made it the sharpest-shifting car in the current lineup.
Weight is where the S/T really separates itself. Porsche fitted magnesium wheels, a carbon roof, carbon front fenders and doors, lightweight glass, and a lithium-ion battery, then deleted the rear seats entirely. The result is the lightest 992 ever built, lighter even than the GT3 Touring. The chassis borrows the GT3 RS front axle and the rear-wheel steering system from the Turbo, but it's tuned specifically for road use rather than outright lap times, giving it a different character than the RS despite sharing so much hardware underneath.
