About this model 911 Sport Classic

Some special editions chase lap times. The Sport Classic chases something else entirely, the spirit of the 1972 Carrera RS 2.7 and the earlier 997-generation Sport Classic, reinterpreted through a modern widebody 992. Porsche introduced it on April 27, 2022 as the second entry in its Heritage Design program, for the 2023 model year, with production capped at a single-year run of 1,250 units worldwide.

Underneath the retro-styled body sits genuine Turbo hardware. The Sport Classic is built on the 911 Turbo platform and carries its 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six, here tuned to roughly 543 hp, backed by PCCB brakes with black calipers, PDCC, rear-axle steering, and Sport Chrono as standard. What makes it unusual is the gearbox. Porsche paired that Turbo-derived output with a 7-speed manual and rear-wheel drive only, no PDK, no all-wheel drive, making it the most powerful manual-transmission 911 in the current lineup by a wide margin.

The styling does the rest of the talking. A double-bubble roof panel and a ducktail spoiler reference the 2.7 RS directly, while houndstooth cloth seat inserts and a fully leather-free upholstery option (available for the first time) push the retro theme through the cabin. Fashion Grey returned as an exclusive launch color, a callback to the original 997 Sport Classic, alongside a unique center-lock wheel design built specifically for this car.
