The GTS badge slotted in above the S for the first time on the 981 Cayman, arriving for the 2015 model year as the most complete Cayman a buyer could order without stepping up to the track-focused GT4. It gathered up the best equipment Porsche offered across the lineup and bundled it as standard, a formula the GTS badge has followed on the Cayman and Boxster ever since.
Power comes from a 3.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-six tuned to 340 hp and 280 lb-ft, an increase over the Cayman S's 325 hp from the same base engine. A 6-speed manual is standard, with a 7-speed PDK available. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds with the manual, 4.3 with PDK, and a 177 mph top speed. Unlike lesser Caymans, the GTS came standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management, Sport Exhaust, and the Sport Chrono Package bundled in from the factory rather than left as options.
Visually the GTS set itself apart with darkened bi-xenon headlights, gloss black exterior trim, unique front and rear fascias, and GTS-specific 20-inch wheels. Inside, Alcantara trim and Sport Seats Plus came standard, with an available GTS Interior Package adding contrast stitching throughout. It's widely regarded among 981 buyers as the best all-around variant in the lineup, delivering nearly GT4-level day-to-day polish without sacrificing the comfort and usability of a standard Cayman.
