The third-generation Panamera arrived for 2024 with a full redesign, and the entry-level trims got a genuine performance bump to go with it. The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 now produces 348 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque, up from 325 hp in the outgoing 971.2, and for the first time in the Panamera's history, it pairs with a nine-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, replacing the eight-speed unit used since the second generation launched. As with the previous generation, the base Panamera sends power to the rear wheels while the Panamera 4 adds Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive, the only mechanical difference between the two trims.
The base Panamera reaches 60 mph in 5.0 seconds with a top speed of 169 mph, while the Panamera 4's added grip brings that down to roughly 4.7 seconds. Standard equipment took a real step forward for this generation as well: dual-chamber, two-valve adaptive air suspension comes standard across the board, along with rear-axle steering, which tightens the turning radius at low speeds and adds stability at higher ones. Active air intake flaps in the redesigned front fascia improve aerodynamic efficiency and cooling on demand.
Inside, the 976 brings the biggest interior overhaul the Panamera has seen, borrowing heavily from the Taycan's design language with a fully digital, curved instrument display and a reworked center console. Partial leather seating comes standard, with 14-way power comfort seats included and 18-way power adaptive sport seats available. Even at the entry point of the lineup, the base Panamera and Panamera 4 carry forward the same fundamental character that's defined the nameplate, sports car dynamics wrapped in genuine four-door luxury.
