The Panamera 4S occupies the sweet spot in the 971.2 lineup, more performance-focused than the base Panamera 4, without stepping into GTS or Turbo S territory. For the 2021 facelift, Porsche fine-tuned the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 to produce 443 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, a solid step up from the base Panamera 4's 325 hp, while keeping the 4S firmly positioned as the value performance choice within the range.
That power routes through the standard eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive, denoted by the "4" in its name, standard across every non-GTS, non-Turbo trim in the facelifted lineup. The 4S reaches 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, nearly a full second quicker than the base Panamera 4. For 2021, Porsche also recalibrated the electrically assisted steering system and made adaptive air suspension standard equipment on the 4S, sharpening the car's handling character without compromising the ride comfort the Panamera is known for. Buyers wanting a more track-focused setup could add the optional Sport Package, which brings rear-axle steering and additional chassis upgrades.
Inside and out, the 4S carries the same 971.2 facelift updates found across the lineup: the standard SportDesign front fascia, the continuous LED light bar connecting the taillights, and the updated PCM infotainment system, which gained standard Android Auto integration for 2022 alongside the wireless Apple CarPlay already offered.
