The Panamera and Panamera 4 sit at the entry point of the 971.2 lineup, and for good reason, they're the most accessible way into the Panamera's blend of sports car performance and four-door luxury. Both share the same 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, producing 325 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque, a change from the previous single-turbo 3.0-liter engine that came before the 2021 facelift. The only meaningful difference between the two trims is drivetrain: the base Panamera sends power to the rear wheels, while the Panamera 4 adds Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive, denoted by the "4" in its name.
Both trims pair the V6 with the standard eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, delivering a 0-60 mph time in the mid-5-second range and a top speed of 168 mph for the rear-wheel-drive Panamera. Despite sitting at the bottom of the lineup, neither trim feels stripped down. Adaptive air suspension, the SportDesign front fascia (previously optional, standard for 2021), and the continuous LED light bar connecting the taillights all come standard, giving both cars the same visual presence as their more powerful siblings.
Inside, the base Panamera and Panamera 4 carry the same PCM infotainment updates found across the 971.2 range, including wireless Apple CarPlay and, from 2022 on, standard Android Auto integration. For buyers who want the Panamera's driving dynamics and everyday usability without the price premium of the S, GTS, or Turbo S trims, these two models remain the most approachable entry points into the lineup.
