Hardly any other production car is used by its customers as often on track days as the Porsche 911 GT3. With the new Manthey Kit available for the 992.2 generation car, Porsche offers high-performance components specifically aimed at customers with a keen passion for driving on track. These include extensively revised aerodynamics to significantly increase downforce and modified suspension and brake components. The 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:52.981 minutes – 2.756 seconds quicker than its predecessor with the Manthey Kit.

Atlanta. Porsche now offers a Manthey kit for the current 911 GT3 (992.2) for even better performance on the racetrack. The kit generates significantly greater downforce and, as a result, allows higher potential cornering speed. The suspension has been specially adapted for track use, and the brakes are designed for the particularly high demands of track days. The new Manthey Kit was developed in close collaboration between the Porsche Development Center in Weissach and the engineers from Manthey in Meuspath. The components, which are optimized for track use, will be sold and installed by Manthey-certified U.S. Porsche Centers and do not compromise the existing factory warranty of the subject vehicle.

Up to 1,190 lbs. of downforce

In its standard factory configuration, 911 GT3 already generates significant downforce. The new Manthey Kit focuses on making the car even more track focused. The entire underbody has been transformed into a continuous aerodynamic element. Turning vanes underneath the car are much larger and now measure approximately 59 inches in length, marking a 39-inch increase compared to the design of the standard vehicle. This enables them to generate additional downforce in a particularly efficient manner. In order to accomplish this, the luggage compartment floor of the production vehicle now has a cover that helps create a completely smooth underbody. The front lip has been redesigned and extended by almost half an inch. Special diffusor fins in the front underbody and flaps attached to the sides of the vehicle increase downforce at the front axle. The wing of the 911 GT3 with swan-neck mounts is wider and now features a Gurney flap. Larger end plates are visibly curved inwards to achieve optimal airflow. The rear diffuser features longer fins and increases downforce without adding drag. Carbon fiber aerodiscs at the rear reduce drag, completing the interaction of all the car’s aerodynamic components to optimize airflow and maximize efficiency. Overall, downforce is greatly increased while drag remains the same. Even in the least aggressive setting the car equipped with the kit generates 782 lbs. of downforce. In the most extreme configuration, which is intended exclusively for track use, that figure swells to 1,190 lbs. at the same speed.

Adjustable coilovers

Together with Manthey, Porsche has developed a special four-way coilover suspension for the 911 GT3 that can be set up for track use. The suspension struts are four-way adjustable, allowing changes to rebound and compression without tools. Spring rates on the front axle increase by 10 percent compared to the Manthey kit on the previous car to account for the increased downforce. This helps to improve handling during spirited driving. The track-focused suspension increases mechanical grip and makes the car even more stable, especially when driving over curbs. Lightweight 20- and 21-inch forged wheels are available as an option for the Porsche 911 GT3. These reduce the unsprung mass by a total of 13.2 lbs. compared to the standard wheels. They are available in Brilliant Silver, Neodyme and Black (silk gloss). Braided steel brake lines are included as standard in the kit. This guarantees very precise pressure and optimum brake control.

Extensive range of accessories for even more individuality

Those wishing to add further visual accents can individualize their 911 GT3 with particularly sporty accessories. Carbon fiber door sill trims with illuminated Manthey lettering, LED door projectors with white Manthey lettering, and the option of applying the Manthey lettering to the doors all offer ways to emphasize the sharpened character of the 911 GT3. In addition, the carbon fiber aerodiscs, which are included in the kit, are available with a range of colored decals. Tow straps in red, black or yellow are also available and can be attached to the threaded holes in the front and rear bumpers, although must be removed before driving on public roads. In addition, the 911 GT3 can be enhanced with carbon fiber front air outlets and rear air intakes.

Almost three seconds faster on the Nürburgring than its predecessor

On the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which Porsche uses as a proving ground for sports car development, the 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit can play to its full strengths. With reigning DTM champion Ayhancan Güven at the wheel, and in less than ideal conditions, the modified GT sports car lapped the 12.9 mile circuit in the Eifel region in 6:52.981 minutes – 2.76 seconds faster than the previous generation (992.1) of the 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit. Both cars were equipped with the optionally available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires. The lap time was certified by a notary present on site.
