About this model 911 GT3 & GT3 Touring

The GT3 is the 911 that exists to prove Porsche still knows how to build a race car for the road. Porsche unveiled the 992-generation GT3 in February 2021, with North American deliveries beginning for the 2022 model year, and simultaneously announced the Touring Package as a parallel option from day one, not a later addition. Both share the same purpose built engine, a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six lifted conceptually from the GT3 Cup racer, spinning to a 9,000 rpm redline and putting out 502 hp and 331 lb-ft through individual throttle bodies and dry-sump lubrication. Buyers get a choice of a 6-speed manual with rev-matching or a 7-speed PDK, top speed lands at 193 mph, and 0 to 60 comes in at 3.2 seconds.

The chassis is where this GT3 broke new ground. It introduced a double-wishbone front axle to a road-going 911 for the first time, borrowed straight from the 911 RSR race car, paired with rear-axle steering and adaptive dampers. Porsche backed it up with a notarized 6:59.927 Nürburgring lap, 17.5 seconds quicker than the outgoing 991.2 GT3. The difference between GT3 and GT3 Touring comes down to aero and cabin, not mechanicals. The standard car wears the swan-neck fixed rear wing, while the Touring deletes it in favor of an active deployable spoiler and a more understated look, borrowing front aero bars previously exclusive to the GT3 RS to claw back the downforce the fixed wing would have provided.

  • Model years: 2022 to 2024 (992.1)
  • Engine: 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six, 502 hp, 331 lb-ft, 9,000 rpm redline
  • 0 to 60 mph: 3.2 seconds
  • Transmission: 6-speed manual or 7-speed PDK
  • Notable firsts: first double-wishbone front suspension on a road-going 911
  • GT3 Touring shares all mechanicals with GT3, differing in fixed wing versus active spoiler and cabin trim
