Why did we do this?
In the exciting Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge 2023, Suncoast Porsche proudly unveils a masterpiece that goes beyond being just a car. It's a tribute to our deep passion, knowledge, and skill. Imagine taking inspiration from old Tequipment brochures and turning it into a magnificent reality.
We wanted every aspect of our design to feel like a factory installed part, capturing the essence of Porsche Tequipment, Porsche Classic, and Porsche Exclusive for the classic 986 generation. We poured our heart and soul into making sure every detail was genuine Porsche, except when a certain piece couldn't be found.
Starting with a Midnight Blue Metallic Porsche 986, we transformed it into a breathtaking 'Turquoise' Blue beauty (Paint To Sample color code: 3AR/5TD/J1). This special color was mixed by PPG, and it is stunning! It not only highlights the new Boxster Aerokit II and Speedster hump covers, but also embodies the spirit of this exciting competition.
Under the hood, we made sure the car performed as stunningly as it looked. We carefully adjusted the ROW M030 Sport Suspension to give it the perfect stance, and we matched it with the iconic Fuchs wheels. We also made sure the road ahead was well-lit with Tequipment Litronic headlights and added a modern touch with clear side markers, 550 Edition red tail lights, and sport gas cap. To make its sound as thrilling as its look, we added a 550 Edition chrome exhaust tip and Soul Performance muffler bypass.
Step inside, and you're welcomed by an interior that's gone through a luxurious transformation. We changed the once-gray seats to elegant black leather, added special embossed leather, Turquoise deviated stitching, and unique Turquoise stripe on the steering wheel. The feel of luxury continued with extra leather touches on the steering column, sun visors, and other parts, just like the special Porsche Exclusive options. We painted some parts in Turquoise blue, like the center console, dash strips, and more. For a bold touch, we introduced Speed Yellow seat belts, instrument dials, and piping on the floor mats. A special thanks to our friends at Exclusive Option in California, who made our dream for a custom interior into a reality. We didn't stop there – we also made it more fun to drive with upgrades from Porsche Classic, such as an improved short shift kit and a cool Classic PCCM radio. Even the trunks got a makeover with the rare factory trunk liners, and hood protectors from Lid Liner.
Of course, we made sure the car was in great shape under the hood too. We installed a new battery, took care of routine maintenance, and even upgraded the brakes with new pads and rotors. The brake calipers were also given a fresh look in the original black style.
In the heart of the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge 2023, this project truly reflects Suncoast Porsche's dedication, creativity, and love for all things Porsche. Our creation is more than a car – it's a tribute to the spirit of restoring and competing with the very best.
