When Porsche refreshed the Panamera for the 2021 model year, it made a deliberate change at the top of the non-hybrid lineup. The Panamera Turbo, long the flagship gas-only variant, was retired and replaced by a new Turbo S. This wasn't a simple rebadge. The Turbo S arrived with a reworked version of the familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, now producing 621 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque, a meaningful jump over the outgoing Turbo's 550 hp. It became the fastest non-hybrid Panamera Porsche had ever built, and it did so while retaining the composure and everyday usability that have defined the Panamera since its introduction.
Underneath the new power figures sits an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, standard across the entire facelifted 971.2 range, along with Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes came standard on the Turbo S for this generation, a notable step up from the Turbo they replaced, where PCCB had been an option. The facelift also brought a redesigned front fascia, a continuous LED light bar across the rear in the style introduced on the 992-generation 911, updated wheel designs, and a retuned suspension for sharper handling without sacrificing ride comfort.
Inside, the Turbo S carries forward the Panamera's grand touring character. Buyers could still choose from Sedan, Sport Turismo, and long-wheelbase Executive body styles, making the Turbo S one of the most configurable high-performance sedans on the market. Sport Chrono Package, standard on the Turbo S, sharpens throttle response and adds launch control, dropping the 0-60 sprint into the high 2-second range depending on configuration.
