When Porsche revived the GTS badge for the Panamera in 2019, it slotted the car neatly between the 4S and the Turbo, aimed at drivers who wanted the sharper, more emotional end of the lineup without stepping all the way up to Turbo territory. The 2021 facelift sharpened that positioning further. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 was retuned for an additional 20 horsepower, bringing output to 473 hp while torque held steady at 457 lb-ft, and Porsche recalibrated the throttle mapping to mimic the immediacy of a naturally aspirated engine, part of what's made this generation of GTS a favorite among enthusiasts who cross-shop it against the Turbo S.
Power reaches all four wheels through the standard eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive system, with the GTS capable of 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Adaptive air suspension comes standard, and the GTS sits 10mm lower than other Panamera variants, part of a chassis tune built around sharper turn-in and a more connected feel at the limit. The Sport Chrono Package and a black-tipped sport exhaust system are both standard equipment, not options, underscoring the GTS's position as a purpose-built driver's car within the lineup.
Visually, the facelifted GTS carries its own identity within the 971.2 range. Satin Black SportDesign fascias front and rear, Satin Black 20-inch Panamera Design wheels, and Exclusive Design tinted taillights all come standard, along with black exterior badging and model lettering in place of the chrome trim found on other Panamera variants. Inside, black Alcantara upholstery with anodized aluminum trim and a heated Alcantara sport steering wheel round out the GTS-specific treatment.
