The Macan Electric represents Porsche's first fully battery-powered compact SUV, and the 4S sits as the performance-focused middle child in a five-trim lineup. Built on Volkswagen Group's Premium Platform Electric alongside the Audi Q6 e-tron, it shares its 800-volt architecture with the Taycan, giving Porsche's newest electric model genuine sports-car-derived charging and performance credentials rather than a compromise built around an existing gas platform.
The 4S uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout, with a front motor shared across the Macan 4, GTS, and Turbo, paired with a rear motor unique to this trim. Always-available output sits at 442 hp, but selecting Launch Control triggers a short overboost phase pushing peak output to 509 hp and 604 lb-ft. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a 149 mph top speed. A 100 kWh battery (95 kWh usable) delivers an EPA-rated 288 miles of range.
The 800-volt architecture allows genuinely fast charging, up to 270 kW, bringing the battery from 10 to 80 percent in around 21 minutes under optimal conditions. Adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management comes standard, using new dual-valve dampers for a wider spread between comfort and outright handling sharpness, while Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus adds an electronically controlled, fully variable rear differential lock for genuine on-limit adjustability, a feature more associated with performance coupes than compact SUVs. For buyers who want Macan driving dynamics without the combustion engine, the 4S represents the sweet spot in the electric lineup, sitting above the base Macan and Macan 4 in outright performance while remaining meaningfully less expensive than the range-topping Turbo.
