2024-2026
The Macan Electric marks the true generational break in the model's history, not a facelift or a badge shuffle but an entirely new platform underneath. Revealed in January 2024 and arriving as a 2024 model, it debuted the Premium Platform Electric architecture co-developed with Audi, the foundation Porsche will build its future EV lineup on, and it did so as the higher-volume proving ground before the technology reaches cars like the electric Cayenne.
The lineup launched with just two trims, the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, both dual-motor AWD, before Porsche filled out the range for 2025 with a rear-wheel-drive base Macan Electric and a new middle-tier 4S. The base RWD model makes 335 hp, the Macan 4 produces 402 hp with overboost and 479 lb-ft, the 4S delivers 442 hp continuously and 509 hp with Launch Control overboost alongside 604 lb-ft, and the Turbo tops the range at 576 hp continuous, rising to 630 hp on overboost with 833 lb-ft of torque. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds for the Macan 4, 3.9 seconds for the 4S, and 3.1 seconds for the Turbo, a figure that beats the outgoing gas GTS by a full second despite the EV weighing roughly 1,000 lbs more. Unlike the Taycan, the Macan Electric's rear motor uses a single-speed gear reduction rather than a 2-speed transmission, a simplification Porsche says still met its acceleration and top-speed targets while saving weight. The 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging up to 270 kW, and the battery is a 100 kWh gross (95 kWh usable) pack shared across the lineup, with a near-perfect 48:52 front-to-rear weight balance achieved partly by rotating the rear motor 180 degrees from its Audi Q6 e-tron counterpart, freeing up space for the available rear-axle steering rack.
