The 2019 facelift brought a genuinely counterintuitive change to the Macan Turbo: Porsche shrank the engine from 3.6 liters to 2.9 liters, yet still delivered meaningfully more power than the outgoing car. It's a switch that shows just how far turbocharged engine technology had advanced since the original Turbo's 2015 debut.
Power comes from a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6, sharing its fundamental architecture with the contemporary GTS, but tuned considerably higher to 434 hp and 406 lb-ft, nearly 40 hp more than the outgoing 3.6-liter engine despite the smaller displacement. A 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission remains standard, paired with all-wheel drive. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, and a 168 mph top speed, genuine gains over the previous-generation standard Turbo in every measure.
The facelift also brought the full-width LED rear light bar and 10.9-inch PCM touchscreen shared across the refreshed lineup, along with standard active suspension and the Turbo's signature quad-pipe exhaust design distinguishing it visually from lesser Macans. For the 2022 model year, Porsche discontinued the standalone Turbo trim entirely, moving its full output directly into the GTS badge going forward, meaning this generation represents the final chapter of the Macan Turbo as its own distinct model. Buyers and parts searches should note that the "Turbo" name has since been revived exclusively for the top electric Macan Turbo trim, an entirely different vehicle built on a different platform.
