The 2019 facelift brought the Macan S something genuinely new: an entirely different engine architecture than the twin-turbo V6 that had powered the model since 2015. Porsche shared this new engine across the Panamera, Cayenne, and Cayenne E-Hybrid, giving the Macan S its first taste of shared corporate powertrain efficiency without sacrificing the character enthusiasts expected.
The 2019.5-2021 Macan S uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with a single twin-scroll turbocharger mounted centrally in the inner V of the engine, rather than the outgoing car's twin-turbo layout, making 348 hp and 354 lb-ft, an 8 hp gain despite losing half its turbochargers. The central turbo layout shortens exhaust paths from the combustion chambers, improving throttle response versus the previous design. A 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission remains standard, paired with all-wheel drive. Porsche quotes 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, 4.9 with Sport Chrono, and a 157 mph top speed.
The facelift also brought the continuous LED rear light bar and 10.9-inch PCM touchscreen shared with the base Macan, along with reduced front suspension mass and staggered tire sizing for sharper handling across the board. For the 2022 model year, Porsche gave the S a further significant upgrade, adopting the previous generation's 2.9-liter twin-turbo GTS engine at 375 hp and 383 lb-ft, effectively pushing every trim level up a notch as the GTS itself absorbed the discontinued Turbo's output that same year. This final 2022 S tune represents the strongest and most refined version of the Macan S built before the platform's eventual transition to electric power.
