The 992.2 Turbo S is the moment Porsche brought electrification to the top of the 911 lineup. Unveiled September 7, 2025 at IAA Mobility in Munich, with first US deliveries arriving in spring 2026 for the 2026 model year, it holds the title of most powerful production 911 ever built, and it got there through hybridization rather than sheer displacement.
At the core is a newly developed 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six, internally designated 9A3, producing up to 631 hp on its own. Porsche then added its T-Hybrid system, first proven in the Carrera GTS, but scaled up here with two electrically assisted turbochargers instead of one. A 400-volt architecture and 1.9-kWh battery feed both turbos and an electric motor built into the 8-speed PDK, adding up to 80 hp on top of the combustion figure. Total system output lands at 701 hp and 590 lb-ft, enough for a 2.4 second run to 60 mph, all sent through Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive as always.
The braking system had to grow to match. PCCB ceramic composite brakes are standard, using a new pad compound derived from Porsche's motorsport program, with 420mm front rotors carried over from the 992.1 car but rear rotors growing to 410mm, the largest ceramic brakes ever fitted to a two-door Porsche. The electro-hydraulic chassis control system, also drawing on the 400-volt architecture, minimizes body roll and pitch under hard driving and includes a rapid nose-lift function. Inside, the Turbo S ships with two seats standard rather than four, an interesting weight offset against the hybrid hardware, though rear seats can be added back at no charge.
