The Turbo has always been the 911 for buyers who want supercar performance without any of the compromises, and the 992 generation pushed that further than ever. Porsche revealed the 992-series Turbo S in early 2020, with US deliveries beginning for the 2021 model year, followed shortly after by the standard Turbo. Both are built around a 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six and PTM all-wheel drive as standard, but Porsche gave real separation between the two. The Turbo makes 572 hp, while the Turbo S is tuned to 641 hp and 590 lb-ft, a 69 hp gap that's backed up by genuine hardware differences, not just an ECU flash.
The Turbo S comes standard with everything the Turbo offers as an option. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes with 10-piston front calipers, a first for any 911, come standard on the S and clamp down with real authority. Sport Chrono is included rather than optional, and Porsche Active Aerodynamics adjusts the front spoiler and rear wing automatically between efficiency and downforce modes depending on how the car is being driven. Both models channel power through an 8-speed PDK exclusively, no manual is offered on either. The Turbo S will hit 60 mph in 2.6 seconds and run to 205 mph, while the standard Turbo trails only slightly given its power deficit.
Porsche sold both the Turbo and Turbo S in Coupe and Cabriolet body styles throughout the 992.1 generation, giving buyers the full range of how they wanted to experience that performance, top up or down.
