If the GT3 is the road-legal race car, the GT3 RS is Porsche deciding that wasn't quite enough. Revealed in August 2022, with US deliveries beginning for the 2023 model year, the RS took the GT3's naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six and pushed it to 518 hp and 342 lb-ft, still spinning to a 9,000 rpm redline, but bolted exclusively to the 7-speed PDK. Porsche didn't bother offering a manual on this one, the RS has always been about outright capability first.
The aero is what defines this car. A swan-neck-mounted rear wing, functional vents in the front fenders and hood, and a center-mounted radiator up front replace the conventional side-radiator layout entirely, freeing up the nose for more downforce-generating bodywork. Porsche even added a Drive Mode-linked DRS system, letting the driver flatten the wing's angle at the push of a button, a first for a road-going 911. The chassis carries over the double-wishbone front axle and rear-axle steering from the standard GT3, but with stiffer everything and a serious commitment to lap time over comfort. Porsche backed it up with a factory-certified 6:49.328 at the Nürburgring, faster than the standard GT3 by a wide margin. The optional Weissach Package adds more carbon fiber components, a carbon-weave rear cage, and magnesium wheels for buyers chasing every last pound.
Unlike most limited-run RS models, Porsche kept the 992.1 GT3 RS in production well past the usual cycle. It remained the only naturally aspirated, non-hybrid GT car in the 911 lineup through the 2025 model year, even as the 992.2 facelift rolled out elsewhere in the range.
