The Cayenne S E-Hybrid debuted for the 2014 model year (introduced in summer 2014 as a 2015 model in most markets) as part of the 958.2 facelift, becoming Porsche's first plug-in hybrid SUV and the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment. It replaced the previous non-plug-in Cayenne S Hybrid, offering meaningfully more electric capability while matching the performance of the Cayenne GTS.
Power comes from a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 producing 333 hp on its own, paired with a 95 hp electric motor for a combined system output of 416 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque. Mated to the standard 8-speed Tiptronic automatic and all-wheel drive, the S E-Hybrid reaches 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and tops out at 151 mph, with an electric-only top speed of 78 mph.
The S E-Hybrid used a 10.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering an EPA-estimated 14 miles of all-electric range. With the standard 3.6 kW onboard charger, a full charge took about 2.7 hours, or as little as 1.3 hours with the optional 7.2 kW charger. The battery could also be charged on the move using the combustion engine. Distinguishing exterior touches included green brake calipers, unique badging, and dedicated wheel designs.
