The 4.8-liter V8 Cayenne S and GTS both ran through the final years of the facelifted first-generation 957 Cayenne, offering two steps of performance above the base V6 model and below the twin-turbo Turbo and Turbo S. The GTS, introduced for the 2008 model year, filled the gap between the S and Turbo as a purpose-built sport variant with its own dedicated chassis tuning rather than a badge-only upgrade.
The Cayenne S used a naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 producing 385 hp (380 hp SAE) and 369 lb-ft of torque, reaching 60 mph in 6.4 seconds and topping out at 157 mph. The GTS used a specially tuned version of the same engine, producing 405 hp (399 hp SAE) and the same 369 lb-ft of torque, 20 hp more than the S, reaching 60 mph in 5.7 seconds with the manual and topping out at 156 mph. Both were available with a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 6-speed Tiptronic automatic, and both used all-wheel drive.
Beyond the added power, the GTS distinguished itself with a sport suspension that sat 24 mm lower than the S, standard 21-inch wheels, a dual-tip sport exhaust, a larger roof spoiler, and wider fenders, along with 12-way power-adjustable front seats and aluminum interior trim not offered on the S.
