This tool has a deep socket connection, which is what other aftermarket oil filter wrenches lack. Given the shape of the oil filter housing, you need this deep socket oil filter wrench. The space available for the filter tool and your socket wrench is so limited during a 982 Cayman/Boxster oil change that you need to ensure you're getting enough torque without having to hold onto a non-deep socket aftermarket wrench with a second hand (which is not possible due to space limitations). This wrench tool gets the job done. I would say given my first hand experience that this is effectively required for a 982 Cayman/Boxster oil filter change.
