Rear Drain Protector Screens

A Must-Do Upgrade for 1997-08 Boxsters!

Make sure you check your water drains on a regular basis. A clogged drain can cause interior flooding in the passenger or trunk compartments!

To further prevent clogging of the rear water drains, these drop-in screens will further protect the rear drains from clogs. Comes with a left and right rear grille.

To gain access to the vent, lower the top until it's midway down. Then you will have access from the rear. Installation is simple, the locking clamp slides down into drain and locks into place.

This upgrade is ideal for 1997-2012 Boxster or Boxster S models. It's easy to check them. Inspect your drains before ordering to see if you already have these screens, it's easy to do so.

No matter which year/model Porsche you have, make sure you check your drains on a regular basis.

4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Just installed Drain Screens, Definately Worth It If They Work, 7.3.2015
Reviewer: Bruce F. (Rochester, MN)

I just received these screens from Suncoast & installed them myself. Installation was easy once I lowered the top a little and located the drain holes per the Suncoast picture. Being a naturally cautious person I did a brief test of each of the two drains before I started to confirm that there was no blockage. My test was to pour 16 oz (1/2 liter) of water into the pan around the drain. It took less than 5 seconds for the water to disappear, perhaps 3 seconds. I then installed the drains and repeated the test and I could detect no difference in the drain rate. I also checked for water behind the seats (none found). It will, of course, take some time to confirm that they work and prevent the drain from being clogged. The reason I am installing these drains is that last week while I was at the 2015 Porsche Parade, I parked my 2005 Boxster outside on a stormy night. In the morning I approached the car and the windows were rolled down about 1/4 and the spoiler was up. People in the parking lot told me that the alarm had been going off all morning. When I opened the rear trunk, the motor for the convertible top started to cycle so I quick hit the top switch to cancel. Note that the top was latched and there was no key in the ignition. At one point while driving just applying the brake started the top to cycle. I called the Louisville dealer & he told me to check for water under the carpet behind the driver seat, which I found. Apparently if the driver side drain clogs, it floods the rear floor under the drivers seat and immerses a control module that runs the alarm, among other things. This causes the electrical gremlins that I described. I got the car to the dealer and they were able to dry it out and fix it overnight by replacing the module for about $700. Kudos to Blue Grass Porsche. So it is a very, very good idea to check your drains periodically to make sure they are not clogged. Seems like Porsche dealers should encourage customers to install these drain screens when their Boxsters are in their shops, it could save a lot of money. In fact it seems like a safety issue as my brake lights did not work properly for some of the time when this problem was occurring.
