Perfect piece for my prized possession. I had to replace my gas cap as the rubber leash that attaches gas cap and car broke. Very simple to install took less than two minutes.

I love it, it looks so much better than the original gas cap and I don't care if anyone ever sees it. I know it's there and that's all that matters.

Yes-a little pricey for a plastic piece only the driver will see but looks real sharp. Someone commented the tether didn’t spin freely on the cap, but it does. The circular part of the tether that fits the cap is tapered and if it’s fitted incorrectly, will be tight and non-spinning. Works great when adjusted correctly.

This fuel cap is definitely an improvement over the standard one. Looks way better and feels substantial even though it's plastic. During installation, the rivet was a little hard to remove but I found a video online that showed me how to remove it and how to install the supplied rivet. One issue I ran into was the tether on the new cap doesn't spin freely around it like the old one did, so it gets twisted up rather easily when you're putting the cap back on. Did anyone else find this to be an issue? Or did I miss something during install? Not a huge deal, and overall, I'm pleased with this purchase.

The tether had broken on my 07’ C4S . Putting the cap on the pump with refueling was getting old, standard caps were about 25$ on line but the upgrade did look really good. So why not! The install was easier with an on line video and a small mirror under the pin to guide its removal. No regrets at the pump now as it seals very well with no tension on the tether this should last for a long time, while being quite posh.

Let’s be real, I’m the only one who will ever notice this. But I’ll be just a little happier every time I fill her up. Install on my 997.2 was a little awkward - My tip would just to simply snip off the old plastic pin/rivet instead of prying it out. Replacement parts popped right back in.

Yes it's plastic yes it's expensive yes I like it anyway. If it were metal (there is a company that makes one out of billet aluminum) it would be more likely to damage your paint if you have an accident. There is a Chinese knock-off version sold on Ebay and elsewhere but it DOES NOT fit the 997. It only fits the 991. But they sure look like they came out of the same factory which makes me doubt heavily this one is made in Germany. as they claim

Tried a different one but it threw a check engine close so I went back to the plastic cap. When this went on sale I jumped on it and even though it is still expensive it looks awesome and impresses me every time I fill up. Who could ask for more?

As mentioned by Carl S (Snohomish, WA USA) in his review on April 18th, 2020, the cap is not actually aluminum, it is "aluminum-look" plastic, so it is not as pleasant to manipulate as expected. It is also very expensive for plastic stuff. Nevertheless, I'm happy to have it instead of the ugly basic standard one. All this to explain the 4 stars instead of 5. I installed it on a 997 Carrera and kept the existing pin (the large one) as I dropped the new one and could not find it. Just used a mini screwdriver around the pin to undo the tether and again to insert the new one. I could not figure out how to remove the old big pin anyway.
