And thanks to its sophisticated traction technology, Cayenne proved the Porsche driving experience was not merely limited to paved roads. The off-road was suddenly wide open. Now comes the next generation of this groundbreaking Porsche: The new generation Cayenne, Cayenne S, and Cayenne Turbo models again reset the standard of sports-car performance. All three are more visually dynamic, more agile and more powerful than ever.
Turbo - For 2008, the twin-turbocharged Cayenne Turbo makes that special allure more powerful than ever. A supercar that happens to seat five, this redesigned model receives a significant increase in output - 500 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 516 lb ft of torque at 2250-4500 rpm. This propels the Turbo to 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds, and a top speed of 171 miles per hour. An "S" version was released in later production, a turbo with 550 horsepower, upgraded brakes, and additional equipment as standard.
Cayenne S - For 2008, the Cayenne S does more than reshape the original lines that Porsche designers gave. Beneath its contoured hood lies a 4.5 liter V8 engine, with increased output rated at 385 horsepower and 369 lb ft of torque. Fed through the standard six-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission, the power of the normally aspirated Porsche V8 helps the Cayenne S accelerate from a standing start to 60 mph in 6.4 secons, and a top speed of 155 mph. A GTS variant was released, featuring Turbo style bumpers, shorter final-drive ration, sports exhaust, suspension upgrades, Alcantara sport seats, and many other standard features.
Cayenne - Sports car performance with a practical V6 engine. The engine was improved for 2008, and now producing 290 horsepower at 6200 rpm. The Cayenne achieves an ideal balance of performance and power, whether the driving surface is on-pavement or off-pavement.
